Get answers to some of your common Barrie physiotherapy questions
How do I know if your physiotherapy clinic or services are right for me?
If you have any questions about our services or treatment options, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you in determining whether you may benefit from our services. We can also arrange for you to speak with a physiotherapist to help assist you with your questions!
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
Physiotherapy is a direct access health care service. You do not need a doctor’s referral to be assessed and treated at our clinic. However, if you have an extended health care benefit plan, it would be advised to check with your specific plan to see if they require a referral when submitting your service receipts for reimbursement.
Can I still come to your physiotherapy clinic if I am not an athlete?
Yes! We see all types of injuries and conditions, and from all different age groups. Our goal is to help you feel better, move better, and to return to your active lifestyle. Please contact us and we can answer any questions you might have, or you can also ask to speak with one of our physiotherapists.
Do you treat injuries from motor vehicle accidents?
Unfortunately, we do not bill to your auto insurance. You are welcome to get quality treatment from our therapists at our private rates and submit your invoices direct to your auto-insurer. Please contact us if you have any questions, or require assistance with this process.
Do you treat workplace injuries?

How long is the Initial Assessment for Physiotherapy?
The Initial Assessment is approximately 45-60 minutes in length.
How long are follow-up visits?
Each person is different in their recovery process, which can also be affected by each individual’s health history and the history of the injury or condition. During the first appointment, the physiotherapist will discuss with you a recommended plan for treatment that will be personalized for you based on your injury/condition and your goals. Treatment frequency is generally higher during the first few weeks of your therapy program in order to ensure that your symptoms are addressed and exercises are meeting your needs. Treatment frequency in clinic typically reduces in accordance with your improvement in movement, strength, and as progress toward meeting your goals, and reaching Physio Graduation!
How many follow-up appointments will I need?
If you have any questions about our services or treatment options, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you in determining whether you may benefit from our services. We can also arrange for you to speak with a physiotherapist to help assist you with your questions!
Do you direct bill?
Yes! We offer direct billing to most extended health benefit plans. Please bring your extended health care benefit information with you to your appointment. If you do not have coverage through insurance, we do require payment at the time of your appointment in the full amount, and we will provide you with a receipt for the service.
What should I expect during my first visit?
On your first visit, the physiotherapist will complete an initial assessment, which consists of a detailed evaluation of your injury or condition. They will review your health history as well as the history or events pertaining to your injury or condition, including your signs and symptoms. The therapist will also perform an objective evaluation which includes an assessment of your body mechanics, posture, range of motion, muscles, strength, ligaments, and additional specialized tests specific to your injury or condition. Following the evaluation, the therapist will also provide treatment, including home strategies to assist you in your recovery. The Initial Assessment is completed in a private room.
Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?
Please wear or bring comfortable clothing to wear that is conducive for the physiotherapist to assess and treat the area that you are seeking to be addressed. Please bring any reports that pertain to your injury or condition, such as xrays, ultrasounds, MRIs, and/or physician referrals or reports.
