About the Clinic

Bear Creek Physiotherapy & Wellness is a physiotherapist-owned clinic located in the vibrant city of Barrie, Ontario. We are committed to providing quality care by experienced health care professionals so that you can return to your active lifestyle.

We provide personalized patient-centered care on a one-on-one basis in private therapy rooms. It is our goal to help you feel better, move better, and to empower you to reach your goals. Our treatment philosophy involves an emphasis on hands-on manual therapy, as well as individualized exercises tailored to each patient and their specific goals in order to achieve successful results.

Denise Ward MScPT, BHSc, Reg. Physiotherapist, Clinic Owner

Denise completed a Bachelor of Health Science degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2007; and continued on with her education to complete a Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy at McMaster University in 2009. She also had the opportunity in 2009 to complete further training in Kaimuki, Hawaii, providing physiotherapy services to patients, as well as assisting with running an injury prevention program for female youth soccer athletes.

Denise is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She has a keen interest in continuing to further her education, and has completed multiple post-graduate courses. She has attained certificates in the McKenzie Method (Part A), Muscle Energy Techniques from Alternative Healthcare Solutions, and Strain-Counterstrain from the Connecticut School of Integrated Manual Therapy. She has specialized further with courses specific to evidence-based assessment and treatment for the spine, sacroiliac joint and pelvis, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunctions, breast cancer rehabilitation, as well as sport specific activities such as running, golf, and figure skating.

Denise is passionate about helping her patients recover from their injury, as well as assisting in injury prevention. She works with her patients providing treatment which includes education regarding injury and recovery, as well as manual therapy, and specifically tailored active exercise. Denise assists her patients to achieve their goals, and return to their sports, hobbies and activities.

Denise enjoys spending her time volunteering on the medical team at various Skate Canada events including Skate Canada International, and the Canadian and World Figure Skating Championships. As well, she can also be found keeping active with sports such as skiing, mountain biking, roller blading, kayaking, pilates and yoga.

Danielle Stirrett MScPT, BSc(Kin), Reg. Physiotherapist

Danielle is a Registered Physiotherapist, who graduated with honours from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University. Danielle is currently licensed and registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She is also a member of the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations. She has over 5 years of experience working and volunteering in settings geared towards physical activity, physiotherapy and health promotion with a variety of patient populations.

Both of Danielle’s degrees have led her to develop a keen interest in treating with manual therapy and exercise. She believes in lifelong learning and has completed additional courses in Soft Tissue Release and K-Taping. She has also completed Level 1 of her Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. In the near future, Danielle plans to improve upon her current skill set and pursue further postgraduate certification in manual therapy and acupuncture.

Danielle’s treatment philosophy revolves around delivering patient-centered care. She strives to provide education to her patients regarding their condition or treatment so that they can be engaged and play an active role in their therapy.

In her spare time, Danielle practices yoga, enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors and travelling. She also likes to run and has completed several 5 and 10K races.

Kristen Zieman MScPT, BAkin, Reg. Physiotherapist

Kristen has been a full time registered physiotherapist since graduating from Queens University in 2015 with her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. Prior to attending Queens, Kristen completed her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology at Laurier University in Waterloo. Over the past three years, Kristen has been providing care in an outpatient clinic, treating various orthopedic conditions across all ages. Kristen has special interest in shoulder rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation, and overall wellness. Kristen enjoys working with all client populations, but has always been passionate about providing care to our senior community.

Kristen grew up here in Barrie, and has recently moved home to be closer with her family and friends. She aspired to be a Physiotherapist from a young age, and has always been exposed to the rehabilitation environment through various employment, and volunteer opportunities.

In her spare time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family, partner and pup! Kristen enjoys travelling to new places, meeting new people, and learning from others. Kristen is passionate about helping others, involving you in your own care, and working as a team to get results.





Jayme Morrison Registered Massage Therapist

Jayme graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Georgian College in 2017. She recently moved back to Ontario from practicing in Alberta. Over the course of her career she has worked in clinics and spas providing: deep tissue, prenatal and relaxation types of massage therapy.











Paige Hawkins Registered Massage Therapy, Registered Holistic Nutritionist

Paige completed her Advanced Diploma of Massage Therapy from Algonquin College in 2016 and recently completed the Natural Nutrition program through The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, earning the designation of Registered Holistic Nutrition. Since becoming a Registered Massage Therapist, Paige has gained experience in multidisciplinary clinics working closely with other health care professionals. She firmly believes the best results come from a team of professionals that are dedicated to helping you reach your goals.

Paige enjoys working with a variety of different demographics, including but not limited to paediatric, geriatric, athletes, prenatal.

Paige is certified in Cupping Therapy and regular incorporates it into treatment plans to improve range of motion, decrease fascial adhesions and improve circulation.

Paige is dedicated to helping you reach your health goals whether that includes decreasing pain, improving physical performance, improving range of motion, reducing stress or a combination! She is confident in providing deep tissue therapeutic massage, as well as relaxation swedish massage and likes to provide a combination of both styles in one treatment.

In her free time, Paige enjoys weight training, trying new recipes and being in nature as much as possible. Since completing the holistic nutrition program, she has dedicated much of her time to helping friends, family and clients in improving their overall health through dietary recommendations, support and education.









Rebecca Watson Clinic Care Coordinator

Rebecca joins the team with a background in office administration and a passion for supporting her work team and all those she encounters. She graduated from Georgian College in 2015 from the General Office Administration program. After seeing how much she enjoyed this field of work she decided to go back and complete the Executive Office Administration Program, graduating in 2017.

In Rebecca’s spare time she loves caring for her two dogs, and spending time with her family. Weekend road trips to the cottage are a must for the summer months so the dogs can explore Muskoka!









Lindsey Johnson Administrative Assistant

Lindsey joins the Bear Creek team with many years of experience in Customer Service. She also brings with her knowledge of the medical field, having worked in a clinic for five years as a medical receptionist. Lindsey truly enjoys helping people, and will always go the extra mile for anyone who needs it!

Lindsey lives in Barrie with her husband and two girls. Together they love exploring the city as well as taking trips to the cottage in the summer. Lindsey can usually be found seasoning something she's made in the kitchen. In her spare time, she is learning how to play the Ukulele.
